Default question for contractor

in keeping with the convertible theme, could a bathroom/shower and bedroom be made with a sliding glass ceiling so you could expose the room to the sky by pushing a button?

With enough money, you can do whatever you want. Skylights would be a much cheaper alternative.

just like a targa top isn't quite as nice as the open sky above.

i know that with enough money it can be done, but i want to know if it's relatively realistic.

They already make power opening skylights, I have 2.

Unfortunately they raise, not slide.

Yes it can be done, all it takes is money. It would be similar to a sunroof on a car where the solid cover slides into the the roof of the car. The reason it probably isn't done much is that it could be a source for leaks and the leaks could be hidden for quite some time before the damage was seen.

I used to do kitchen & bath remodeling, and have put in skylights.
