So "S2K".... pronounced "ess-two-kay" is an.....

but what about when you remove the first and last vowel sounds to form the word "STOOK"

or is even thinking about it instant banishment from the anti-STOOK club. =)

Words transliterated from another language are obviously a problem. I recall in my high school history class learning about Communist China and its secret police, the KMT. This is an abbreviation for Kuo Min Tong, but it's pronounced "guo min dong". I could never understand why it wasn't transliterated so that it was spelled as it was pronounced. Peking became Beijing--finally--for the same reason.

I'm surprised nobody's tossed out "nth".
