A Question For The Techies Out There
For those of you that have ever shopped for notebooks/laptops, is there anything out there that can best Alienware notebooks in terms of performance and upgradeability; money ain't a thang. Alienware is only one of the few businesses that I know customizes notebooks. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 8200, but I'm looking for more "blang".
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

IMHO, avoid using laptops as game machines at all costs, if that's what you are in for. Otherwise, IBM and Apple still make the best laptops overall.

Consider a Voodoo Envy M:460 or M:600
competes pretty nicely with alienware in my opinion. Expensive stuff though.... http://www.voodoopc.com

i recently acquired a maingear 17" widescreen monster. full p4 3.06, a gig of ram and a mobility radeon 9000. granted that the notebook is too large to be considered mobile, but i do bring it home on the weekends to play games
my collegue has the alienware area51m, and is having some cooling issues with it. i was going to get the alienware, but once the 17" screens came out by maingear, my choice became obvious. maingear also makes a notebook comparable to the area 51, but like the alienware, it only comes with a 15" screen.
i believe that the maingear towers are rated higher than the alienware ones, and the quality they put in their towers shows in their mobile pieces.

ps- i forgot to mention that the person i got my notebook from at maingear is a fellow s2ki.com member!
