Question for those of you with one child
Thanks to everyone for their input. I feel much better knowing that life with kids will continue without an SUV!
Now I've run into another dilemma, but think that I've come up with a plan:
Initially we were going to keep the S2K, our Accord, and add an additional vehicle. During the first ten weeks wy wife's comments have been "the S2K is staying no matter what!". But now that we've entered 14 weeks I hear "I don't think we should pay that much for something we all three can't ride in". The problem is one day she wants to sell it, the next day she wants to keep it.
So I've suggested that we keep it until after the baby is born, and then make a rational decision without hormonal interferences. She bought it! I can't stand the thoughts of selling the S2K, only to regret it later. Thanks again. Tommy

We had a '77 911S until our THIRD child was born, and we fit two car seats in the back without a problem. In fact, we could get the whole family including the dog (a collie) and a week's worth of groceries in that car.
With one child a sedan should be fine; just make sure that you can secure the car seat good and tight. We have a minivan now, along with a Civic and the S2K, but we now have three teenagers with lots of friends so the minivan (or an SUV) is an unfortunate necessity. As for the increased safety, what you gain on impact safety you lose on rollover. (We once saw a Pontiac sedan broadside a Blazer on the freeway. The Blazer ended up on its side sliding across the freeway and the Pontiac drove off.)
