Why do I get the idea that the people who wrote the questions don't like "genetically engineered foods," and have very little idea what that term means?
It is not so simple as those questions make it seem. Isn't it genetic engineering when you breed dogs for a good coat? How about breeding corn for resistance to parasites and disease? Is it only genetic engineering when you use microscopes and delicate equipment to insert a gene into a strand of DNA, or can the term be applied to any of the myriad ways humans attempt to improve a species?
Would you prefer organically grown food that has been genetically engineered to be parasite and disease resistant, or food that requires large amounts of fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides to produce a yield high enough to make a profit, yet has no "artificially altered" characteristics?
That last question was a classic example of a loaded question.

Do pluots qualify as genetically-engineered?
How about tangelos?
Or crenshaw melons?
Or boysenberries?
My mom grew jalapenos and bell peppers near each other one year. Evidently they cross-pollinated, because she ended up with some very spicy bell peppers. Are those genetically-engineered?

Okay okay.
I know that the questions are kind of ambigious and has a slight negative connotation towards gentically altered foods. It was never meant to be this way. It's just that my class is reading this book, In The Name of Science, and it's an eye opener to what the science communitity has done in the name of science. This book and most other books are obvisiously bias.
But anyways please answer the question as best you see fit. It's just a survey to gather some data. I'm not here to say that you guys should not eat what your eating because it's wrong. As I said before it's just a survey to gather some data.
