R-U planning to hide parents $ from nursing home?
I am 100% with ninegrand as well.
My wife's parents are blue collar but lived fairly modestly all their lives... own their own house and have a nice monthly retirement..... they bought long term care insurance a few years ago........ so they have protected everything.... and they are somewhat hillbillies!

I like your proper planning statement.

So it is better to make society pay for your care and make sure your kids get an inheritance.?
Wonder why the system doesn't work.
What happened to being responsible and paying for yourself (especially if you have the means)

No Scot, I don't. I am married and my personal ethics, morality and health concerns would say to keep my dick in my pants. But thanks for asking.
Do you deduct the interest and taxes you pay on your rentals? It's a loophole (according to some liberal politicians). You don't have to, you know.
I take back my comment that it's stupid not to take advantage of the medicaid loophole, if you have reasons you don't feel it is right for you.

There's a thing called "planning for the future". If I was going to wind up in a nursing home/retirement community in 5 or 10 years and the government would confiscate all my wealth when I did, you'd bet I'd shed some or all of my wealth to preserve it for my kid.
This topic pisses me off. It's nothing but pure greed from family members. There should be no inheritance for the kids if their parents require nursing care. It may suck for them to watch their "inheritance" disappear but why should the public have to foot the bill so they can ride away with the money.

I like "ninegrands" solution better than anyone else's so far. Planning is definately key. I am not a total liberal tree hugger, but i feel if you can pay your own way then why be a burden on society just because there is a loophole.
Kind of like charging the HUD (Section 8) the maximum rent just because they are dumb enough to pay it. I know guys getting $800 a month for houses in the ghetto that rented privately should not be above $625. I (like a dumbshit apparently) rent my houses in nicer parts of town for about $600-$625.... but I feel that is reasonable....i don't really want to be labled a dickhead (except on this board).
