Default Racing Shoes....

I am looking into getting some racing shoes as a gift for someone and I want to know what are some good quality brands and styles that you all would recommend. Also, does anyone know where I can buy them online? Thanks!

Piloti, these don't make you look like a Leprechaun.

I've got some from my junior high school days, but I'm afraid the cleats would play bloody-hell with heel and toeing!

I bought some G-force boots from racerwholesale (http://www.racerwholesale.com/Merchant2/me...de=Racing+Boots) and am quite happy. Relatively inexpensive (~$70), well made, decent looking..

If you want to go higher end, you might consider Sparco, Simpson or OMP. Figure $100 - $200 for any of these.

The Piloti look cool, but I think it is less of a true racing boot than the others.

Check out www.northstarmotorsports.com for the best, IMO, racing shoe there is...Diadora. They are pricey, but damn, they are some excellent shoes. They are made out of kangaroo leather. Very comfortable and come in high and low varieties, as well as all different colors. I have the red ones, of course...

Why bother with shoes when you can give Soap-on-a-Rope in the shape of a Ferrari?

there was a thread just before the JEH TWS track day about shoes. I came across some Nike's and the stock was being depleted for 20 bucks a pair. The soles were a lot thicker, and not like an OMP or G-Force type of shoe, but quite a few people bought them.

Personally, I prefer my Vans - I think they just feel right. Otherwise, I'd put down 30 bucks and go to Academy and get some wrestling shoes.
