After all the jerkoffs in the world it's nice to see people do random acts of kindness.
Today my wife and I were shopping and at the register I the girl who helped us swipe some card and we got 10 bucks off our purchase.
If I hadn't been watching we'd have just thought it was a discount on the receipt.
I asked her why she did it and she simply said, she had the discount card and didnt' need it so she gave it to us.
It wasn't the amount, 10 off of 150, it was just the random act. She didn't owe us anything and if I hadnt been astute she'd not have gotten even a thank you.
It's nice to see this sometimes. It restores my faith a little in humanity.

Theres a guy that works at the pro shop at a local golf club, hes always really really nice to us. Gives us free tees, lets us walk on with out tee time, gives us extra stamps on our frequent player cards. Just an overall nice person, who always does something more then he has too.
Feels good doesnt' it. Whenever I drive in DC metro, they are all jerks! When you signal to change a lane, the people on the other lane just speeds up and won't let you in. But if you just change lanes without signaling, they won't speed up. I've been here now for over 4 years and the elevator thing still bothers me. What do you do if you're waiting for an elevator and the doors finally open? Wait and let people out first, right? Not in DC. Whenever the doors open, people just rush in. I was like, EXCUSE ME, CAN I GET OUT FIRST! I still can't understand that one. It must be the busy life style. And, if you get a flat tire and you pull over to the side of the road, you end up risking your own life sometimes just to fix a flat. WTF.
The best act of kindness I had was in Oklahoma (my home town). I was driving to TX with my parents. It was during a rainstorm, and I ended up spinning the car. Noone was injured, but I ended up with a flat. I couldn't change the tire because of my recent back injury and my parents couldn't change it. Not only are they old, but they never did, and it was raining pretty bad. Just then, 2 good 'ol boys in their old beat up pick up pulls up next to us, gets out, and checks out the flat. They ask me for my jack, spare, etc. and pursued to change my tires. They got down and dirty on the grass and ended up changing the tire for me WITHOUT asking for anything. They didn't even know about my back problem. They were about 16-17 years old and I was in my early 20's. I even offered to pay them, but they said don't worry about it. And before you knew it, they asked me to drive to make sure everything was ok and just went on their way.
Because of their kindness, I always try to pull over and help others in need. I even slow down and let others in my lane in the highway if they signal. Just want to share.
