Doesn't it look more like one of those liter water bottles? It sort of bounces off him that way. He probably got more hurt from the fall than the bottle hit.

turn up the sound a little and listen closely, there is a pretty distinct sound of glass. I thought it looked like a 1 liter as well but the sound makes me think otherwise.
