Bill Gates lost about $1.85 billion in trading Friday, based on his Microsoft (MSFT) holdings, as company shares headed south by $2.56, or 4.32 percent, to close at $56.69. The chief software architect starts the week with $40.92 billion.

"Paper" money is ephemeral, at best. Stocks go up and down, but over the long haul, they go up. Don't cry for Mr. Gates, Argentina!

Man I envy that guy, But in all fairness He's worked hard over the years. Harder then I anyway.

I'm sure you've all heard the way Mr. Gates' fortune began. After coming up with DOS, Bill enlisted his father's help in securing a per machine royalty contract with IBM and every clone manufacturer carrying his operating system. The rest, as thay say, is history.
