Reading assignment due the first day of class? WTF
So far I've been to four classes this semester. When I got the syllabus for them, on 3 of them it said that first chapter should have been read by the first day of class. Great. So now I'm already starting the semester off behind in almost all of my classes. How can a teacher expect students to do something when they don't even tell them?
one thing I learn about higher education is life isn't fair. Deal with it. No one is going to spoon feed you knowledge. You will be tested on things not covered in class.
Those who take the initiative will do well.

Most of the time the syllabus is available prior to the class, either online or in print somewhere.
I'm at work, I can't really read here, but I can post all I want

Seriously though, it seems strange that you're back in school already. My college didn't start Spring Semester til around the last week of January. Are you taking one of those abbreviated "mini-mesters"?

You sound like those lame-asses Scot complains about. Always bitching about how much work you have and how you're trying to get out of it.

The difference between me and Scot's tenants is that I may complain, but what I'm required to do will get done. Also, I will do my best at it, otherwise there isn't much point to doing it.
In law school you have tons of reading you're supposed to have finished by the first week, you're not alone, don't worry. Think of it this way... someone will always have more work then you.
