No, but spouting off about how cool and how much better than Microsoft their products are makes you an Apple nerd.

Do you do that?
Wait, but Microsoft/PC owners don't do that? I think you're a little sheltered if that is what you think...

I must admit I don't know how to use Apple OS. Then again, I don't need to, because most of the world uses Windows; so everywhere I go, I'd be fine.

Fanboys of any vein are annoying. Of course, that article is pretty poorly written, but the author isn't a Mac hater, he's a Mac fanboy, angry because he wants an updated laptop to buy.

Kyushin, how do you feel about a police officer giving you a bogus ticket while writing it on a Mac?

Uhh, selective edit much?

Here is the entire excerpt.

This brought many potential speed increases, but it also brought a ton of compatibility issues. When Snow Leopard was first released, it broke many popular programs. Programs like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop became unstable and crashed regularly. Many users were forced to pay for expensive software upgrades to keep using their favorite programs.

Many important programs were negatively affected by the upgrade to Snow Leopard, too. Versions of McAfee and Norton AntiVirus no longer worked with the new operating system, and because Snow Leopard now requires 64-bit drivers for connected hardware, many printers and other devices were no longer supported. Even some of Apple's own programs were incompatible as well, including versions of iPhoto, Xsan, and Server Admin Tools.

Fortunately, Apple has since acknowledged these compatibility issues, albeit very quietly. So far, Apple has gone as far as to provide a short and very incomplete list of incompatible software, however instead of actively trying to fix these compatibility issues, Apple simply instituted a measure to prevent the software from being installed. While Apple's official list is ultimately useless, there is a very helpful community maintaining a list of broken programs and possible fixes here.[/B]

it was a good article. i learn alot about apples closed architecture on neutral websites. another good review was the engadget show with the gadgets of the decade. pointed out just how the launches of leopard and vista compared as well as a few other facts.

IMO, apple products are only worth buying from months 6-15, after that, hardware becomes well outdated and you are paying less for function, and more for brand name.

P.S. the AV software IS important to users trying to integrate their Mac in the enterprise. alot of companies enforce software minimums for patches and AV before allowing network access. coupled with a broken office suite and photoshop and you have an all aluminum web browser.

I have an iPod Touch. It's pretty sweet. It's also the only Apple product I will ever own.

I'm sure Macs are wonderful machines if you like paying more for (arguably) less, don't like having a practically infinite market of parts to replace a dead or inferior part with, and don't like doing anything that isn't multimedia-related. If you like them, good for you I guess.
