recent marriage regrets survey
It means: Don't get married because it's a waste because it could end badly anyway so what's the point?!
That's what you wanted to hear, right? Just like expensive food is no better than Denny's and Ferrari's are no better than S2000's?
Yeah, none of those things that take effort, planning, sacrifice, compromise, or foresight are really all that.

Really, I think it says that >50% of people have poor foresight and decision-making capacity, even for really important things.
Actually, if you figure that it only takes one person to make a marriage miserable... that could mean that >80% of people could have been happy in marriage.
In the meantime, I wouldn't trade my wife for anything in the world. 10 years and she's my best friend and the love of my life. Having someone who "gets you" and will call you on BS when you're deluding yourself is priceless.
And for the record, I spent more time and effort working on a solid foundation with my wife than I spent on my career. There's no magic or luck to this one either. Just realistic expectations and a lot of hard work.
And I would gladly live out of a trailer and drive a Malibu than have anything happen to my wife. We have a saying to each other, "None of this means a thing without someone to share it with."
