Are there any really good brands of sunglasses that are cheap? I have always bought Ray-Bans but now realize it's silly to pay so much when I scratch them up or lose them every other year.

Lightweight and polarized are a plus. I looked at these at Sports Basement for $75:

Are there any solid brands of sports sunglasses (ones that are OK for running, cycling, and tossing into the console of my car) that are priced <$50?

Look at the Big5 sales paper. They usually have some REALLY nice shades for cheap on their sales. I got 2 pair of serengetti's for 40 bucks each originally 120 bucks and they are really high quality. I also got a pair of smith's for like 40 bucks. They are all either photochromatic or polarized that I bought.

the REI outlet store online commonly has lots of discounted high-quality sport sunglasses. Native Eyewear in particular is a great brand with tough polarized sunglasses.

for a budget you can't beat native. they have a number of styles to choose from, they're all polarized, and have a lifetime $25 replacement warranty. meaning as long as you own the glasses, if they become unusable for any (yes, any; including you sit on them, you scratch them, etc) reason, if you send them a receipt (and they usually don't even require that), the remains of the glasses, and $25 they'll send you a brand new pair.

They had a huge sale recently too. I forgot where I saw that.
