Default recovering from an appendectomy

MONDAY
4:50 am noticed a sharp abdominal pain
10:00 am went to the gym, pain didn't go away
12:45 pm went on WebMD.com
1:10 pm left work
1:30 pm checked in to ER
pain only registers a 5 on a 1-10 scale
compression test only yields slight pain
fluid sample registers nothing out of the ordinary
told by the doctor that this is the most slightest case of appendicitis ever seen
blood test yields raised white blood cell count
CT Scan shows appendix 1.5x larger than normal

6:30 pm go into surgery - laparoscopic appendectomy
8:30 pm came out of anasthesia

TUESDAY
12:15 pm - discharged from hospital, wife drives me home in the S2000

the initial pain was bearable. it was like being sore from not doing ab work in a long time. thing is, i'm an avid gym rat and i'm doing ab work all the time. i've had this type of pain before and dealt with it. the WebMD site got me a little paranoid so I chose to get it checked out.

i'm glad i did.

just recovering now, weening myself off the painkillers. i hate not being at work and i especially hate that i can't hit the gym for 6-8 weeks. argh. but i know it's better this way...

Joe, I hope you ordered those tires through Tirerack.com. You'll save about 100 bucks per tire, or close to it. (I have no financial interest in Tirerack)

of course not. d@mmit. oh well, next time. savings would have been about $70/ea. the price i got from the shop downtown included mount & balance, valve stem and disposal.

at least the post-operation pain is going away.

I just had hernia surgery friday. It sucked. Actually, the surgery didn't suck, taking the pain killers sucked. How could people get themselves jacked up on Vicodin? That shit is horrible.

from what I understand, there is no real cause to it - it just happens. i'm a 31 year old average build gym rat. i read that it can happen due to a blockage of blood to the appendix, an organ that has no known function.

Who gets appendicitis?
Appendicitis is most common in people ages 10 to 30, although it can occur at any age. It is unusual in children younger than 2. Appendicitis in children, pregnant women, and older adults can become serious before it is diagnosed because their symptoms are not always obvious.

Noticed your sig. I've also got a garage like yours, an S2000 and a '99 4Runner.

Anyways, I weened myself off the painkillers already. I didn't want to take them, but the Doctor's said I should take them for the first couple of days.
