Default Recreation ideas around Denver?

I've been traveling to Denver, CO for the past couple of weeks for business and will be spending one weekend there. I'm staying at a hotel in Downtown Denver. I will be flying my boyfriend out to join me and I was wondering if anyone can recommend things to do. We're more outdoorsy people so we prefer to play outside

I was thinking of going mountain biking, but it's a pain to transport our bikes by air. I realize we can probably rent mountain bikes, but we're "snobs" in that we rather ride our own bikes than rent because we've modified our bikes to our liking...

I was also thinking about snowboarding but the only mountain that will be open is Arapahoe Basin and I'm not sure what the conditions will be like, given it's May already...

I prefer a day-trip as he'll probably be flying out Friday night and flying back to NY Sunday afternoon. Any suggestion is much appreciated! Thanks!!

Hey, that's MY neighboorhood!

Back country riding and skiing are great up here right now. Berthoud Pass is tracked up every weekend.

That's a great area s2kskibum. I went snowmobiling in the Arapahoe Nat. Forest last march (02). Unfortunately I was only able to stay for 2 days. I enjoyed The Chuckhole Cafe in Grand Lake too! I'm hoping to get back some time and check out the whole Denver area.

I noticed today how green everything is getting here it happens quick! Stratton still has a bit of snow on it but otherwise the snow is all gone.

I spent some time at Estes park when I lived in Colorado. It's a good day trip from Denver and good for outdoors type people. I found this site with more info:

I like the Japaneese Cultural center in Denver, I think they call it "Shogun Willie's". (aka Colorado Ave. Ballet).
