Default Red Brick Walkway

We have one that goes from our driveway to the front porch. When these bricks get wet - they are very slippery. In the summer of 2007 I tried to use a pressure washer in an attempt to blast off the fungus/mold/whatever hoping that would work - nothing.

The only other idea I can think of would be to pull them up and flip them over one by one (they are loose).

I nearly busted my @$$ again this morning whilst leaving for work...

Any ideas how to get the funk off the bricks?

Sounds scarey for people walking.

Are these bricks smooth?

Not really. The house was built in 1903 although I doubt the walkway is that old. The funny thing is my Mother in law has a friend who's Grandmother used to live there - she did not recall it being there in the 30's/40's. I'd hate to replace all the bricks - I might just try what I said & turn them over.

I wonder if there is an anti slip type product you could apply.

Mixing sand in with a sealant. Or roughing up the bricks

Also check all your gutters and make sure they are clean and draining away from the house as well.
