Default "Regular" business hours

Tell me, whats the point of running a shop/bank/business etc. that closes at 5pm? or even 4pm?

Most of the people that I know that have the $ for these work until 5 or later. WHY CLOSE!?

ARGH!

I totally agree. Living in Asia, many places do stay open later, but places such as banks generally close at 5 and there are many services that they only provide over the counter, which means time out of the office if you want to use them.....

If it is supposed to be a service industry, SERVE ME!!!!

This is often one of my rants as well......

I say open at noon to 9pm. Thats fair, get the lunch hour and after work people. No wonder why small shops go out of business so often!

Many shops etc. here open at say 10 or 11am and stay open 'till 9 or 10 pm. This makes sense to me as not many people will want to shop earlier than that during the week, but will want to shop after work.

I went to a local paint store at 5:30 on Friday and it was closed!

How bizarre--how do they manage to stay in business?

(I got what I wanted elsewhere.)

Many small shops are family owned and run by people who also have lives outside their work, much like ourselves. However, there doesn't seem to been a good reason why a large corp (Bank of America, for example) couldn't stay open til 7p to serve it's customers.

The good news is that as far as banks are concerned, a lot of them now have branches in the supermarkets and are open open till 7pm and even on Sundays, atleast around here.
