Default Removing Painted Bolts

Is there a way or a tool to remove painted bolts without damaging the paint on the bolt?

Is there such a thing as lined/coated sockets?

Not sure about the padded wrench, but maybe you could grease up the bolt enough that you won't have to apply too much pressure on it?

What bolts are you trying to remove? I know Griots garage has some sockets that are lined with either rubber or teflon, but they are for the lugnuts.

yeah, thats not going to work.

I would tape them up with electrical tape and undo them with a crescent wrench ... very slowly.

Fender needs to come off so a paintless dent removal guy can fix a dent on the very bottom of the fender.

Don't want to make it look like the fender was removed for a repaint by scuffing up all the bolts.

I will try electrical tape and see how that works. The unpainted bolts that attach the crossmember that the radiator is attached to are not very tight. I am hoping that the painted bolds are just as loose.

Here is a source for what you need, non marring plastic tools and inserts.

Awesome!

The only thing that kills it is shipping at $9.83 for a 99 cent item.

AZDavid,
Call them and tell them you only need one insert, they will probably work out a reduced shipping price.
