if you are gonna get high and mighty with people you might want to be consistent. I for one don't post too much about this because I can be a jack-ass!! Though, i'm usually just joking, but it can be hard to portray that on the internet.
Hey I totally missed this....
I suppose you could be right on this, however the last time I checked no one seemed to be offended by any of my avatars. If you are deal with me on it. Not a problem. If I'm being disrespectful to the mentally challenged then someone correct me.
As a reminder, this thread started due to some very nasty racial comments, which is what I was referring to.
If thats high and mighty then hey so be it.
S2kpdx01: Thanks for the input, I'm pretty sure I've been consistent in my moderation. You may want to consider the subject before you comment on it.

on lots of boards people post that "arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics..."
i have lauged at it. But, it was posted at corner-carvers.com and some guy got upset. He was very nice about it, but he explained how he had a mentally handicapped child and special olympics had done wonderful things for her and his family. He wasn't a jerk about it and peope apologized and it all worked out! *group hug*
Since I didn't know what the original thread was ..it was pretty hard to figure out what you were talking about. But, making fun of the mentally handicapped can be very offensive to some people, but so can cheese or the kind of bread I like...sometimes it is tough to know where the line is. Since, I hadn't read the original thread..i can't comment, but nasty racist comments don't belong on this board.
Anyway, I was just playing devils advocate...I don't really get offended by much...
stickers, gt wings, and mind-boggling colors on civics offend my sense of good taste..but that is about it!!

Had the thread survived you could have seen what I was talking about.
Basically the person made comments only fitting for someone in a sheet and burning a cross in the yard. You're right it doesn't belong here.
Also on the retarded angle, I'm not sure if the person who's picture I used as my Avatar was actually retarded. He looked a bit off but I'm not sure if he was retarded. Anyhow I suspect these things are a personal interpretation.
I'll apologize to horridly ugly women everywhere for my current avatar.

Vince,
I'm glad someone took the time to post a thread like this. More and more posts are becoming assenine, offensive and just downright immature. I agree, while we might be considered a pretty good bunch of folks on this forum, a little more respect never hurt anyone.
An observation if I may add. Feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong.
As the S2000 ages, and the used car market opens up a little bit, with some super deals to be had, a different caliber of buyer is looking at the S2000 as a potential purchase. The vehicle is becoming, in it's used form at least, somewhat more attainable for individuals who perhaps would not purchased the vehicle new for whatever reason. These persons, stemming from varying demographic and socio-economic backgrounds are joining the forum looking for the same wealth of knowledge that we all came here for. However, some of these folks, new to the car and the culture, do not seem to share the same values or outlook on society as do some of the more seasoned members on the board. What I am saying I suppose, is that the downright ignorant posts are coming from new members and not some of the more senior folk, perhaps due to the reasons I mentioned above.
Anyone else?
Asif

I totally agree that respect is key. But what happens when the one that shows a lack of respect is a moderator himself? I have gotten to the point where I no longer want to participate in the local meets because of the asinine and immature way that a small number of people in our local group act. There are only 2 girls in our club and they are on the verge of losing both. I have had enough. I have even gone as far as deleting the local forum from MyS2000. This is unacceptable. There has to be a place to cross the line. AND RESPECT IT.
