Default Road Rage

I was curious to know if anyone else has experienced a large number of A55holes on the road lately. I the past two weeks I have seen more jerk offs on the road then I have in the past two years combined. Just today driving home from work minding my own business and some tool drives by and gives me the finger. I was thinking to myself "Did that guy just give me the finger for no reason". Hrmm, so I sped up to confirm what I thought I saw and as I drive past he gives me the finger again. At this point I was pretty pissed so I purposely go out of my way and get off the same exit that he does. I get along side the dude and proceed to invite him to pull off the road so we can settle what ever issue he has and he gives me the stroking his d1ck hand signal and speeds away. Then last night some other A-hole decides that he want to ride two inches off my bumper thru a 25MPH neighborhood. I continue to proceed on my merry way and the dude decides that he can't take it anymore and gives me the horn. Being the fairly short fused individual that I am I decide to stop the car and proceed to get out to confront this jackass. As I get out of the car the tool guns his car and speeds around me. I could go on with several other stories just like these that I have had happen to me in the last couple of weeks but that would take a novel to explain. Could it be that the high gas prices or all the refugees from the hurricane battered states have shown up on my front door so to speak to wreak havoc on the more fortunate ones who drive nice cars?

What I wouldn't do to have one of these mounted on the hood of my car to help clean up the trash that walks and drives the streets of this country

Yeh, there are always idiots on the road. On top of people who road rage, the lane hogs piss me off even more. On the way home today, 3 cars were driving in parallel, blocking off the entire traffic behind them. I managed to squeeze through and the guy I "cut off" gave me a honk and the finger.

Anyhow, don't mean to switch the topic a little, but yeh, I think we all see a-holes on a daily basis. The rule of thumb is to not get frustrated. And while I do UNDERSTAND why you would confront the other driver, I would recommend that you do not - it is simply not worth it. Plus, let him piss someone else off... if he manages to live long enough to give a gang member the finger, he may end up not having that finger for the rest of his life (I grew up in LA, stuff like that happens), or he may find himself full of holes.

Like every thing else going on in the world these days, you best blame it on Bush ...and global warming. Yep, that's it. I don't have any proof of that, but I'm sure of it nonetheless.

I know, tell me about it. I used to get more upset about such things, but now I don't let it bother me so much. I have two good recent examples though:

1) A few weeks ago, on an expwy with traffic lights and a heavy stream of 35mph traffic. In my mirror is a Mercedes 190 tailing me at a distance of approximately 0.5 inches. Now I'm in the *right lane* but decide it's not worth brake testing someone who is clearly insane, so I move left to get out of her way. As she's blowing by me she cranes her head out the window, cigarette in hand, and starts screaming insane babble at me, including some form of racial slur involing the words stupid and asian. She then proceeds to tail the next car up the road at 0.5 inches, tries to pass him on the right shoulder, and then we all stop for a traffic light. Of course I could have parked next to her and confronted her, but she was sooo clearly off her meds...

2) Then last night an SUV honked at me as I was slowing slightly to move into the left lane approaching a red light. Ironically the reason I wanted to move left was that I saw the SUV signalling right and didn't want to block them from making a right-on-red. It wasn't a friendly honk either.

I've ridden with colleagues who are otherwise nice people but get aggressive on the road. I dunno what it is, maybe because I have a short and easy commute. I make every effort to be a considerate driver, I let people in if they signal, I don't hog the left lane, etc. I used to get mad when people "wronged me" but I guess I have mellowed with age.

In my experience the people who are acting like assholes have some combination of being inconsiderate, impatient, and not looking ahead at the traffic situation. The people who are in the biggest hurry are usually the least likely to be looking more than 4 feet beyond their front bumper.

yeah-yeah-yeah. . .
Actually, last week I had a large number of 'lane fakers" (people who are edging to change lanes, then back off. . . then come around again) and a large number of "turtle heads" (like a scared turd - pokes out, back in, pokes out. . .)

This week there's been less. I think I'm starting to know what time of the month it is for my whole neighborhood.

Did you play sports in high school? If so, you probably remember that the guy who retaliates against the original offender is the one punished. That is the exact reason you should just remove yourself from the situation. It's not worth getting shot or arrested over.

I'm not gonna be a hypocrite. I get angry just as much as the next guy but I was a potential jury for this case (thank God I didn't have to serve). I try to think about this the next time I am faced with a stupid inconsiderate driver

Football season started. Check to see if the local team has been losing. I know there is a correlation between a rise in domestic violence and the home team losing.
