first off, i do play 'REAL' guitar.

however... rock band/guitar hero are still fun games. let me go back a second and put this part in bold. they are fun games. just games.

example. i have guitar hero at my house. i frequently have friends over. they may have never played rock band or guitar hero, but they can still pick it up and have fun. if i have a real guitar or real drums at my house, i can't shove them in my buddy's hands and say 'lets jam dude!' ... 'drums are in the corner! have at it!'

Gotta agree with the other guys - I play guitar, drums and piano, but still love playing the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games. They're plenty fun and in the end just a game. Even professional musicians (Foo Fighters for one off the top of my head) play these games and readily admit it... much like professional athletes play sports videogames.
