Yeah that would be ok but $6000 after tax contribution to a ROTH could equal a much larger pretax contribution to a traditional IRA. And I think there are still some withdrawal rules on ROTH's that don't apply to traditional IRA's. Asking for some advice on this stuff on the board is not a bad idea, but since so much of the decision is based on income, goals, retirement age, current and future tax brackets and such, years until retirement, you should sit down with a financial planner and go over this stuff in detail.
