When I was working on my Master's degree in mathematics I wrote a paper on the Rubik's Cube. The movements of the faces form a mathematical structure called a group (we're getting into some abstract algebra here: you might want to turn back while it's still safe!) and I was analyzing the structure of this group. It is, to put it mildly, complicated.

I later made a computer model of a Rubik's Cube when I was learning to do 3-D graphics. Graphics were tougher then so my model wasn't as impressive as the one in the original link here, but it was still pretty good, and fun to create.

Ed Alonzo has a magic trick in which he puts a small (1"x1"x1") scrambled Rubik's cube in his mouth, rolls it around a bit, and removes it--unscrambled!

Drippy, but unscrambled!
