s2000raj, i saw that you wrote......"In your poll you forgot, NO WAY DUDE, are your crazy...face up to the fact that you are breaking the law." Isn't doing 145 with the top down illegal as well?

This is a great way to meet your new roomates, Bubba and Charles...

Depends on the situation obviously.

If you are doing 150 down the freeway next to some other random car doing 150 and you see a cop parked on the shoulder turn his lights on, don't stop.

good point, 145mph in Cali is jail time for sure! And I'm sure he has driven faster with the top up. I was going 110mph and did get pulled over, I talked honestly explaining I was on my way to the airport to pick up my dad who's flight had come in early and for my honesty he accidently wrote that I was going 80mph , quite generous, I went to traffic school (In Cali, this gets the ticket of your record) and it was done, I paid off the tickets and learned a valuable lesson, buy a radar detector , lets be realistic, going the speed limit all the time is very unlikely, although I do keep it between 5mph on side streets, but I have no problem cruising at 85mph on the Highway espescially when traffic flow is the same. I don't think I would run from the cops, but if it was late enough and I knew the road perfectly, I might consider it.

Wouldn't try it in most cars, most are too slow. Much easier on a sportbike and the best one is a Hayabusa that you can install a turbocharger on. If you get good grip on the launch you can do 0 to 150 in around 7 or 8 seconds (from 60 mph to WFO damn it's fun) . Cops in cars are something to be concerned about nothing more. Cops in the sky are a little more of a nuisance. Ground speed on most So Cal law enforcement choppers are in the 135 mph range. By the time you pass the revenue collectors and he reaches for his or her radio (broadcast time about 4 to 6 seconds to announce your tom foolery )you have long since have gotten off the freeway and are sitting at McDonalds drinking a milk. You may want to keep a nylon slip cover for your helmet since it may get covered w/ bugs (different color from your helmet of course) . You want to keep a different colored sweatshirt in your storage to ward off the nights chill, wink wink. Also release the spring load on your plate to now show the plate (when your on the gas keep the plate in the upright position tucked deep under the cowl to prevent someone from logging it down). It's a high stakes game that can be won if you want to play the game. Some riders have been known to keep a Garmin GPs on the bike to record highest top speed . The Busa in modded form can do over 200mph GPS verified. Here in So Cal it really sucks if you lose the game, the PoPo get really mad if they catch you. Play at your own risk .

i heard that some new law was passed that cops can not chase you if your going over 100 or something. is that true?

i dont think i run from the cops, i consider it hiding from them. if im on the highway and he pulls up behind me from nowhere then ill pull over.

but

if im traveling opposite direction and pass a cop speeding...
i will make a quick turn and go take backroads.. i do not park my car..like nastinupe said.. i just go to the other side of town.

If you run from the Cops you're not only a moron, but you're a jackass because now you're putting their lives in danger by having to chase your dumb asses and any other poor soul who happens to be in your immediate vicinity.

I know a few people who were stupid enough to run from the cops on bikes.
