S2000 Mechanic Shops
I have something to get off my chest.
About all of the S2000 mechanic shops, mechanics, or shop owners that I have went to for work always have left me feeling displeased with them being either very dismissive, condescending, and a lot of times out right rude. The vibe that I seem to get is that they are doing me a HUGE favor by working on my car and that they are the second coming of the messiah.
This is making me think of just completely doing my own work or just leaving the S2000 scene, or maybe even getting into bikes.
I don't get it. Don't get me wrong, the S2000 is a great car and I love it, but people a lot of people in the S2000 community act like its a Ferrari or some shit.
What are your experiences?

I've been lucky. I've been bringing my S2000 to the dealer I bought it from for 19 years and have never had an issue. I have had an issue with every dealer I have dealt with my other cars but not the Honda dealer.
I went to another shop one time because my dealers tire machine was broken and I needed a tire mounted and the guy was one of those cocky mechanics like you are talking about and that turns me right off. Guy was telling me that there is only one brand of tire I should be putting on my car and then he told me that there was only one specific brand of oil I should be putting in the car. He said because the engine redlines at eight thousand r.p.m that I should use the brand of oil he recommends. I informed him that mine actually redlines at closer to 9,000 r.p.m. to which he said well I'm not that familiar with those cars. Guy needs to learn the difference between fact and his opinion. THEN unbeknownst to me the guy who mounted the tire takes off for a test drive. My dealer always asks my permission me before the car leaves the lot.
My advice to you is either start doing the work yourself or don't give up looking for a good mechanic unless you really aren't happy with your S. Also check the forums in your area for recommendations. Good Luck

I’ve gone to the dealer whenever I’ve needed anything other than an oil change.
You’re talking about shops being rude, but then complain about S2000 owners thinking it’s a Ferrari, kinda confused. You bitching about shops or what?

Are you calling me a bitch? Are shops part of the S2000 community?

to the dealership and arrested his ass, and pressed charges.
It’s like the mechanics who ‘take’ the car out for a test drive and wreck your car.

I can think of two great shops in Northern California. Feel free to message me.
That said, while it’s not a Ferrari, nor even a particularly cantankerous Porsche or Jaguar, I did find that some shops simply did not take care of my S correctly; while others understood key differences in terms of servicing with wheels/tires, bearings, bushings, springs/shocks vs. an Accord or Civic. It’s not that you put the car on the pedestal, but it is (/was) a question of finding a technician that gave a crap about their own tradecraft.

My original post was more of a rant. Hence, "something to get off my chest."
Thanks for all the support guys.
