Check this out I now a guy that works for a honda dealer in north county. He is the same guy who sold me my S2k.
He told me that he had a costomer that wanted to test drive an S2000, but when they took the test drive the customer floored the car a bit too much and got sideways in a corner. The car flew off the road and in to a ditch "driver error". When the car came to a halt the sales man said "So you want to buy it now".

Damages, cracked front fasia, air bags went off, he did'nt say anything about insurance.

 

Geeze! Some "driver error"....!!

 

I wonder if the guy still fancies the S2000

 

Well.... he's probably talking shit about the S2K to cover up his "driver error".

 

That certainly is learning the hard way

 

My co-worker crashed the last new RX-7 in Orange County a few years back. Went on a test drive in the pouring rain. Gassed it hard on the freeway onramp and went sideways across all lanes and hit the median, then got smacked by a car to boot. Dumbass.

 

In '94 or '95 there was a guy here that took a new RX-7 for a test drive. The prospective customer was driving, it was estimated that they were doing about 130mph when he lost control. Neither the salesman or the customer survived the crash.

What an idiot, never drive something you don't have experience of thinking you can control it ... This is simply stupidity at it's very best.

 

When I was selling Honda's several years ago, I had a couple of 20 year old's come in and they wanted to test drive a Prelude. I was very busy with other customers so I just stuck a tag on it and let them take it around the block without an escort. BIG MISTAKE! When they pulled back into the lot they parked the car doing about 30 mph and the driver miscalculated the turn and sideswiped the car in the next spot over. I saw it happen and I knew I'd be in deep sh$% because we aren't supposed to let people go on test drives without a salesperson escort. My salesmanager was so pissed at me. The used car sales manager immediately assessed the damage and my manager told me to get the money from the girl who was driving the car and to not come back until I did. She felt bad and she said that her grandma would give her cash to pay for the damage, so I had to get in the car with them and drive around most of the afternoon until we tracked down her grandma. Then we had to go cash the check and I finally got back right before the close of business that day. My manager laughed at me and said, "I give you credit. I didn't think you were gonna be able to get any money out of them." He then proceeds to tell me that the dealerships insurance covers them on things like this and that they would still claim it even though I had gotten enough from the girl for repairs. So the little mishap actually made the dealership more money.

I tell you what though. It was surreal driving around in the back of a dirty ass probe with two complete strangers in a suit on a 95 degree day trying to track down someones relative to pay off this damage. I'll never forget it. And I never let anyone go on test drives by themself after that.
