Very nice, and I can appreciate the work involved in maintaining a salt water tank!

I would've used 4x4s to support the tank and some additional bracing in the corners. You've got 1500lbs of water sitting there, plus probably another 400-500 in glass for the tank. Other than that... very nice!

Absolutely beautiful stand & top! How much woodworking experience did you have before you did this?

I've been holding off on doing a similar project until I get my own RO setup. No point in sinking lots of money into an awesome tank w/ algae problems...

Give us info on the lighting! Where did you get light fixtures? What brand/bulb type/wattage?

Wow, that is a really nice set-up.

I used to work at a fish store in college and had a 50 gallon myself. I miss it. That stand and canopy looks amazing. Nice live rock selection too!

What filtration are you using. I haven't seen those before. Details on the Aqua Controller too. I might break down and build another one now I've got a house.

I didn't make the stand. The know someone from my local reef forum and had him build it to my specifications.

I got the light fixtures from reefspecialty.com
They're called lumen bright reflectors with reeflux 12k bulbs with coralview ballast (About $800/250 watts).

On the filtration: A member from the reef forum built it himself. Now, he has his own company called Grey Seas Aquatics. I got the protein skimmer for $600. It's basically a copy cat of Deltec skimmers which cost over $1000.

i'm running a 6 gallon JBJ nano-cube with a 70 watt HQI halide that i custom retrofitted into the hood. are you planning on adding any more live stock? looks like you are good with fish...need some corals now! any overheating issues or are you running a chiller?

I don't have any overheating issues as I have a mini fan in the canopy. Also, I don't have a chiller.
