Hows this sounds:

"Chicago is an exciting place to visit and, regardless of the season, there is always something happening around the city. Chicago is more than the Sears Tower and Navy Pier. Chicago has historic landmarks, a lakefront, parks, museums, theaters, the Magnificent Mile, talk shows, and seasonal activities such as festivals and parades. Let's not forget the Bulls, Bears, Cubs, Sox, Wolves and Blackhawks."

"There are also several on the "Museum Campus," which is located in the 1200 block of South Lake Shore Drive. My favorites are The Field Museum, which houses "Sue" the T. Rex. The Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium is really cool because you can see whales, dolphins, etc. . The Planetarium is there, too. Further down, in the 5700 block of South Lake Shore Drive, is The Museum of Science and Industry. You can pick up a bus that takes you to any of the above-mentioned museums on the #147 bus, which runs down State Street in the south loop."

You guys be the judge of which is the better city!

Like heights??... Come do the obligatory Sears Tower observation deck. You may wait all day in line though. One that is less crowded, and almost as high, is the Hancock Building observation deck. I think the prices are around $7, and you can stay up there as long as you want. The Hancock is across from the Water Tower "mall" at Chestnut and Michigan Avenue.

Personally, I wouldn't want to live in SF. Lived near VanNess Blvd for a month and moved to San Mateo for a year. Didn't like either. So I went back home.

Southern CA is the place to be at. Everytime I hear people in the east coast complaining about sub-zero weather, I laugh my ass off while driving down Ortega Highway in 75 degree weather. I hope to live in SD some day.

Chicago is waaaay out of the question. Wind chill factor in the middle of winter alone is enough to scare me away. HELL NO! If I want deep dish pizza, I go to a small place in Brea called Tony's Little Italy pizza. He's from Chicago.

Here is a tourists take on the food:

Chinese: Want some great Chinese food? Head up to Mars Restaurant in the Lakeview neighborhood - it is not in the loop, but in Lincoln Park/Lakeview. It is in the 3100 block of North Broadway. If you're downtown, you could cab it or hop on the #36 Broadway bus. Very nice and good-quality, but reasonably-priced Mandarin, Szechwan and Cantonese food. If you want to stay in the downtown area, then go to Szechwan East, located right on Michigan Avenue. It has a huge menu and lots of variety.

Sushi: Sushi Wabi. I would never eat a raw fish, or any fish, but this is what the hubby loves. It is located in the very trendy "river west" area on Randolph Street. http://www.sushiwabi.com/ He also recommends this restaurant: http://www.kamehachi.com/. I think both are pricey.

Italian: Rosebud. The original is down in the Little Italy/Tri-Village/University area. If you go down there, take a cab, because the surrounding area is rough. But, it is worth the ride. It is the most amazing Italian food. If you don't want to trek down to the near north side, then they have a location on Rush Street.

Pizza: New Yorkers may not like Chicago-style pizza (I know none that do...) but if you want to try it, then go to Edwardo's Natural Pizza. It's the best pizza in town - deep dish or thin crust. Our favorite is broccoli and garlic. YUM! I believe there are several locations in the city. Bacino's in Lincoln Park and Giordano's are also good. They all make amazing spinach pizzas. Personally, I would stay away from Renaldi's, Connie's and Ranalli's...you don't want me to tell you why!

Middle Eastern: For Middle Eastern cuisine, try Reza's or Andie's Restaurant, both of which offer extensive vegetarian selections. Reza's is very good Persian/Iranian food and has two locations, including one downtown in the 400 block of east Ontario. The other location is in a very cool part of town called Andersonville (requires a long cab ride) with other similar restaurants. But, if you venture up there, then go to Andie's Restaurant instead. It is next door to Reza's. It is more Greek/Lebanese and more reasonably-priced.

Greek: If you want to stay in the river north/north loop area, go to Papagus. It is located in the Embassy Suites hotel and serves high-end Greek food. If you want to venture a little west to Halsted Street (between Van Buren and Madison), you can go to Greektown. Most of the restaurants are good, but my favorites are Athena, Pegasus, and Parthenon. Santorini is the pick if you like seafood. The other restaurants there are either overrated (Greek Islands) or downright suck (Costa's).

Afghani: You probably never had it, but you're really missing out! Kabul House has two locations, but only one in the city, in the Old Town neighborhood. It is located on the east side of Halsted Street in the 1600 block (north of North Avenue), near several theaters (Steppenwolf, Royal George). It has VERY good food and the waitstaff is exceptional.

Don't forget the Cheesecake Factory (located in the lowest level of the Hancock Building) if you are looking to gorge yourself - their menu offers over 200 large-portioned choices! If you go to the Hancock, there is a pricey restaurant called The Signature Room on top. It serves a HUGE buffet lunch for only $13-$14 between 11-2. If you really want to load up...Ghiardelli's (Fountain Drinks, Ice Cream & Chocolate) is across the street at 830 N. Michigan Avenue.

Chicago is a great place. I had a friend going to DePaul so I visted a few times and always had lots of fun. People are nice and lots to do. Winters are a bitch though. Growing up in Cali spoils you when it comes to that.

When I want to play in the snow I just have to drive 3 hrs (which I do quite often in the winter) and not have to worry about shoveling it out of my driveway or freezing my ass off on a daily basis. Then come summer drive an hour or less to hit the beach or do a coastal drive. Can't really beat that.

I hate to admit it, but San Francisco is the most beautiful city in the country.
