In the last 8 or so months, Greg and I both have taken a lot of abuse for a lot of things. Most of it has been in jest, but some of it, even in jest, is going overboard.

While the miniskirt thing was definitely a joke originating with someone who is even a personal friend of Greg's, that particular joke has gone far enough. When you couple that with all of the other things that both he and I (but much more so Greg) get jabs about, it gets old very quickly.

There are other things that are jokes carried too far as well, but rather than name them and thus revive them, I'll let them go and ask that everyone try to be a little easier on the jabs, jokes, and ribbing. Greg's incredibly fed up and I've had my moments as well (but I haven't taken nearly so much crap), so if we can keep this as lighthearted a place as most people find when they come here, it would be appreciated. I'm not asking that this become a less friendly place, but just take it easy!

I always assumed Greg was laughing right along with everybody. If not, Then I agree it should stop. I've made fun of myself on the board many times, Yet nobody picks on me. I guess he made it too easy or I'm just too boring.

Yes, this makes sense. While we're on the topic of abusive humor, I would like to point out that I live in California. I would greatly appreciate it if everyone would quit making jokes at the expense of Californians. Over the last 25 years Californians have taken a lot of abuse, not to mention immigrants. We understand that most of it is in jest but we're really getting tired of the jokes and abuse. While we're on the subject, I'm sometimes put off by the thinly veiled racism I occasionally see.

 

Having been around here since the beginning and HA.net since summer of '99 there are some issues that I have seen come and go.

First off - everything is a two-way street. You dish it out - expect it to come back.

Second - when you do dish it out - know who you are dealing with and what sort of retaliation you can expect.

Third - If you do know someone personally, don't drag personal stuff onto the forum unless the other person wants it there. This is where lots of the problems occur, IMHO.

Fourth - If you know someone is irratated about something - Drop it.

Finally - This is a great board (thanks C3) and lets keep it a great place to learn more about our great car, the Honda S2000.

I agree with what you say, Brad. And thanks for posting that Sondra. I just got a little tired of this relentless nature of the ridicule, it was wearing me pretty thin, actually. I love a good joke, but there comes a point when it's just not funny anymore...after endless months of it!

I make fun of people and people who actually know me, in person, know that I'm not mean or vindictive. I do love a good joke and I'm very sarcastic...that is why the is in most of my posts. I do, however, only tease the people that I know well, for the most part. At least from MY perspective, all my teasing is in good humor and I never mean anything more than it is...just good clean fun. And I honestly don't think that any of you mean/meant any hostility. But if I hear one more reference to me in a miniskirt, I'm gonna snap and trash this place!

Anyway, I just felt that it was getting a little too personal and just a constant thing that I was having to deal with. It was starting to really piss me off! I know it was all in good fun and I harbor no hostility towards a soul here, I just want to elevate the debate a little and not talk about me in a freaking miniskirt anymore!

Well, enough said. I do play well with others and I hope to meet many more of you in Asheville. I know a lot of you and your friendship is important to me, thanks for that.
