Screw DSL, I'm going back to dial-up...
Yea, my DSL has been out for the last 24 hours now (oh, how I love Ameritech). So I have been using a dial up access account. And that has gotten me to thinking, I really hated how pages and images would load so fast with DSL. You know, all those car movies that I have downloaded...all that's overrated. Dial up access is where it's at. I want to sit here and wait eternally for pages to load. I don't even want to think about downloading the latest cool shareware application that is 2 megabytes. That is just too complicated and would take way too long, I have more important things to do...
When, and if, my DSL comes back online, I'm gonna tell Ameritech to shut it down, it's just too fast and provides me too much happiness. I'm going to stick with my US Robotics 33.6 modem...it's been a trustworthy companion for about 4 years now and I feel that I have abandoned an old friend. Modems, I love mine...but thank God you can turn the sound down. That gets a little irritating, but waiting allows me to do more important things...like reading War and Peace as a web page loads. Or using my cell phone to call a friend and chat for hours as I send that 100k spreadsheet to a client.
Dial up...it rocks! I'll take 33.6k over 768k ANYDAY!

there is no way i can go back to dial up modems, my @HOME was off line and had to use a dialup.
its soo dam slow, it takes me like 2 hours to type like 30 messages, when i went back to cable modem, i can go through 30 messages within 15 minutes.

Go with Cable if you can. Road Runner is currently the #1 Cable modem ISP according to J D Powers. Reliability, customer service and speed is what put them over the other ISP's.

all you cable and DSL guys Suck!
I had cable once. Pipeline!
Now I have DirectPC (satellite) because I live in the country.
Talk about the most unreliable service. Sometimes it is so fast
it smokes cable, usually around 4am for about 5 minutes. Most of the time
though, it's closer to ISDN speeds or worse.
It was the total bait and switch sell but it's the best thing I could get out here
