Sept 11, 2001
I was here, in KY, watching with my co-workers in a conference room. After the first plane hit, people had rushed to the one TV in our office that could receive broadcast channels. Quite a few of us had heard the hallway chatter and gathered around.
Several of the guys in our office had worked with fire crews at the towers to plan evacuation schedules. We knew approximate numbers of total employees and visitors on an average workday (fortunately, we were WAY off the actual number for 9/11/01), and we figured it would take something close to 2 hours to get that many people (our guess was well over 10,000) evacuated. We hadn't taken into consideration the time of day, and some other factors that had apparently caused large numbers to not be in their offices yet.
In horrific anticipation, we watched the clock, hoping for the best. After the second building fell, approximately 109 minutes after the first impact, hardly anyone said a word.
Earlier that morning, someone remarked, "Stupid hijackers... don't they know if you want to burn the building to start at the bottom?"
After the second tower fell, I looked at him and said, "Stupid hijackers?" Almost silently, we started filing out of the conference room.
After they shut down the skies, I realized that I had two guys now stranded in Massachusettes, and another in Colorado. A moment later, I remembered my sister was supposed to be flying back from NY, NY that morning (she was fine, and made it back a couple of days later). My guys in Mass drove back in a rental car, and my guy in Co flew back a week later. Later that night, my wife reminded me that a week before, I'd cancelled a proposed trip to check out a new system at the Pentagon.
At the moment, I'm in a conference call with a customer who HAD offices in the affected building complexes. In fact, several of the decisions about implementing SNMP and server redundancy on this client's network are directly related to that day's events.
9/11 will continue to impact my job for years to come--with or without the emotional baggage that it brings along.

I was at work in Twinsburg, OH. We were going down to the cafeteria for our 9:15 AM break when I notice a lot of people watching the big screen TV. I just collected $5 from a fellow football pooler and glanced over to see what everybody was watching. I was stunned as I stared along with everyone else. All I wanted to do was go home. Later that morning, we were all allowed to go home.
I just vegged out in front of the TV . I couldn't believe how quiet things had gotten for a few days when there were no planes in the air. It was very eerie.

Crawled out of bed at an earlier than expected time, turned on S2ki, everyone said to look at the tele. Went in, watched the tele, watched crash #2, and the falls live. Parts were delayed in trying to get my car (recently broken into and stripped out) back together so I couldn't do much but walk around in a weird daze. Got a call from Sondra and John David and we all went to lunch at Dave & Busters all weirded out like the rest of the world.
I was driving into work listening to the news on the radio when the announcement of the first plane was made. My wife works in the news business and happened to have the day off. I immediately called her to alert her, but she was already watching. During our conversation she stopped speaking suddenly as she saw the video of the second plane...immediately she said "I have to go, a second plane has hit...". I did not see her for the next several days as she was busy with the coverage.
I drove as quickly as I could into work, there we have big screen tvs all over...every one was showing the same pictures and around every one a group of people were standing stunned watching these unimagineable events unfold. My only thought...please do not fall - let the people escape.... My hopes were not to be

First off, my mom is a Flight Attendant ------- But for Southwest Airlines, but at the time the news didn't know what type of plane it was.
I was taking dual-credit courses at a community college and I had to see the dual-creit lady because they screwed-up my classes. While I was waiting a teacher ran in with a TV and set it up. At first I thought it wasn't real and then I remembered my mom. Since they didn't know what airline it was I was basically sh!ting in my pants. So I said screw the lady I gotta get to my house. When I got home my grandma called, my aunt called, my cousin called, my girlfriend called, my friends called, and even my dad called; but my I never heard from her. Then finally after hours of watching TV and waiting for the phone to ring, she finally called and said she was in the air when it happened.
That happened on Tuesday and she didn't get home till Friday (Because they shut down the airports, remember) and I can't remember the last time I was that happy to see her.
P.S - My mom's off this Sept. 11th

Because of the time difference I was just about to go to bed.
My wife turned on BBC World just after a film had finished, and called over that a plane had just hit the WTC...... as I went over to see what was happening, we saw the second one hit, live.
At that point I had no doubt that it was an intentional act ......
We stayed up, glued to the TV, switching between BBC World and CNN for about the next 5 hours .........

I was at work and while in one of the rental condos I turned on CNBC to check the market futures. The 1st plane had just hit and I thought it was an accident. While I watched the 2nd plane hit and then I obviously knew we were under attack. I called the office and told them and they hooked up on the internet feeds. A lot of people didn't know right away what had happened I remember telling people and seeing the shock and disbelief in their faces. I have never felt the same since that day and I hope none of us ever experience anything like it again.
I was sleeping in when my roommate called right after the first plane hit. I kept watching until i saw the second plane hit. It was totally unreal. and just said oh sh*t when the first tower went down. received a text message on my phone from my boss about the news and an emergency meeting.
Since i am in government and commercial accounts, we handle a lot of emergency response crews so i had to rush into work. But the images would never leave. I saw a live picture of a person jumping and that just keeps playing over and over in my head. Tomorrow will be a really sad day......

Uh, sorry. It was late, I was tired. Yes, Tuesday. I had the same classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays... so yeah. *sigh*
