"Set phasers to stun!"
our soldiers are not highly trained in non-lethal tactics for a very good reason.
I thnk it is funny there are some people who think soldiers miss because the enemy is dodging bullets, and increasing the speed of the "projectile" will stop this. People miss because it is hard to hit a target a good distance away, especially under duress. Long range energy weapons will miss as often as projectile weapons as long as people are holding and firing them.

I guess the point is, the people selling these weapons are suggesting they are some sort of panacea to the troubles of the world, when in fact they are nothing more than another version of the almighty gun, which has proven itself unable to bring any more peace to the world than the rock, club, spear, arrow, or bomb.
The article devotes a large number of words to people talking about how "helpful" these things would be in Iraq, as if the problems there stem from the weapons in use and not the interaction of people with diverging attitudes. I guess I would be happy to see the terrorists using non-lethal means to disrupt society, but that apparently isn't the market these guys are talking about - I got the idea they thought the US Army should be buying, not terrorists.
