It's still cliche. Do you think you understand what it's like to be Chinese? Before you answer I should tell you that I'm part Chinese. Should that change your answer? No, not in my opinion but for people who say things like "you'll never understand what it's like to be black" knowing the audience seems to matter.

Soul_fly,

I can't help if you feel my statements are condescending. How about you're own tone? Using word like "idiotic" and "ignorance" doesn't exactly put a warm and fuzzy feelings in my heart either. But that's beside the point. The fact of the matter is, when ever "black leaders" use statistics to support their argument they leave out Asians. I think it's because Asian statistics would undermine their argument. Yet Asians are apart of this country and this community. It is unfair to make a comparison between a minority group with the majority (whites) with out including all the minorities to gain a broader perspective and to better evaluate the problem. I've broken down your arguments sentence by sentence. And if you lack the facts and figures to support your argument, you should do research and find them to rebuttal me. Simply using a bunch of clich

I found Shaq's response to the charges pretty funny. He sounded just like Fuzzy Zoeller did when he was apologizing for making those remarks regarding Tiger Woods - something about him "serving fried chicken and watermelon or whatever those people eat" at the Champions dinner at the Masters.

I guess ignorance, racism and denial come in all colors.

What's Shaq suppose to say? Yes I am racist? Come on, now, we know he said it as a joke. The point is should he have said it. To say Shaq is uneducated, is wrong, he has a degree from LSU, he grew up as an army brat. So Shaq of all people should know what is right and wrong. Maybe it's to much to ask everyone to tiptoe and watch everything they say. But is it wrong to expect more from a role model?

The most foolish thing is to THINK you understand because you are a human, and all humans have same things in common. In doing so they dismiss so easily other's pain and mental anguish caused by what you might consider petty and insignificant.

Please try to understand, because it's obvious you don't, that is, if you're a nonAsian. Don't BITCH about BITCHING, people have a right to BITCH about this, it's absolutely preposterous for Shaq to say these things, and he deserves to accept to consequences ANYBODY would receive for being racist, may it be any man/woman of any color against any man/woman of any color.

"blkmagic
i am flattered that you chose me to be your ambassador for the black community"

If I chose you as the ambassador for the black community, I'd have to agree with the stereotypical portrait of the black mentality. Don't flatter yourself.

I'm merely try to point out how deep rooted it is in our mind to segregate outsiders or people w/ a different believe. I don't know about Koreans, I'm Chinese (Cantonese). I can tell you from 1st hand experience that people are treated differently if they're from another region that spoke another dialect in China. Even here in the states, I've encounter Mandarin speaking Chinese that flat out told me they don't like Cantonese people the first time we meet! Can you really expect racism to be erased when people segregate within one's ethnicity? I never said I supported this behavior, but it
