The Sims
Ok, there was just an explosion in my front yard. WTF?
i got the expansion pack though, and it screwed up everything. my sims wont even work anymore.
*cries*
Sometimes I hated my sims though. I know it's just a game, but some of them were so stupid! It just amazed me.
One example was one couple had a baby.
The guy had left for work and the baby was crying and the woman was totally ignoring the baby.
She was depressed because she didn't sit on her butt long enough to be entertained by the four different TV channels.
So I tried to force her to tend to her baby and her carpool pulled up.
She stood up, ignored me, and walked out the door and to the car.
I wanted to set her on fire. She could go to work, but she didn't want to mess with her baby?!
Then the box comes up "Shame on you, blah, blah,"
The baby wails and wails and I'm hoping one of the parents will get their idiot rear home before the child protective services or whatever take the baby.
Sure enough, here she comes.
I hate that woman. She's probably a lying, she probably takes those babies and sells them. Where's her ID? I want to see it, but no. It's not an option, we're just supposed to believe these people.
Another example...
The kitchen catches on fire. The man is shouting like a manic not knowing what to do, the alarm is going off...it's crazy. The car horn beeps and his carpool pulls up. The man suddenly forgets about the fire and walks out.
You'd better thank me, buddy, for buying your smoke alarm because if I didn't the whole house would have went up in flames while you were at work!
I always got annoyed when people would just come over and swim in my pool uninvited too.
I swear, the sims should be able to buy guns. Seriously. Why not? People in the real world can. Some use them, some don't. It'd take care of so many problems, too.
The lady tries to run off with your baby, boom - she won't be bothering you anymore.
Neighbors lounge in your pool without asking - boom, they won't be coming back.
The police tell you your party is too loud, boom...
Okay...I'm kidding, of course.
Kind of.
Don't get me wrong, I like the game...some things just baffled me to the point where I was ready to scream at the computer.
I did a couple times, now that I think about it.

hehehe are you a Sims addict too?
I ended up reinstalling the game several times, and deleting 3rd party packs when the game acted funky. my favs are the naked patches, S&M bodies, and strap ons for the girls
I have the game down. It gets boring because I use the cheats. I let my Sims be bums cuz I just increase their bank accounts. I can't figure out which Sims package allows the Sims to be in sexual positions?

Regarding your frustration, I hear ya! I played for a few months right when it came out, and the game's logic routines are almost too good. They act like people would act, albeit sometimes they act like retarded people. It took me ~15 days to get one woman to sleep in her own (king size) bed, instead of someone else's smaller bed/futon. And there really needs to be a "hurry your ass up, bitch" button to get people to move faster every now and then.
On an aside, if you ever get a chance to read interviews/articles by Will Wright, the creator of most of the Sim titles (SimCity/2/3000, the Sims, etc), they're very interesting. The logic routines he wrote for SimCity (and the 2 sequels) were incredibly simple, even though they appear to be quite complex when you're playing the game. There is a great deal of randomness (is that a word?) in the mix, but it plays out to be "logical" when you're actually in the game - I guess that just goes to show you how "random" we actually are. I'm not sure how the Sims was written, but I suspect there is a similar level of simplicity to the determinant routines which control how your Sims act and react.
