I'm getting ready to book a date for my first tandem. I read that you need to jump like 15 times before you get certified. That's a lot of time and money. I'm gonna go do my tandem, and see where things go from there. I want to base jump later in life, so I'd probably wanna get certified.

Congrats on finishing your course alive

But that's a different type of skydiving..."static line" right?

yeah some schools will also teach you static line which i think is a waste personally....

it all depends on how good you are some schools say 15 some are 7

the one i go to says 7 classes cuaes we jump from 15k and not 10k like most places so we have twice the amount of freefall time...

perris skydiving uses electronic devices instead of actual static lines. I could be wrong, but aren't tradition static lines physically connected to the plane?

how can you die? even if you manage to screw up and forget to pull the chute, an emergency one will deploy... just make sure you dont release your chute and get the crap all twisted... thats what my physics teacher said...

Yeah its static line and its from like 1200 ft... You could go on to HALO school which is freefall from extremely high altitudes.
