on saturday night, I was out at my account's holiday party, and I had a couple drinks. it was actually kinda humorous, because when I was at the bar they were holding the event, they tried to charge me for an extra drink I did not have. since I was driving, I had been keeping a mental tab, and had 4 total (hurricain's, pretty weak compared to what they normally serve there). still, I had eaten a decent meal beforehand, so I was a little below buzzed at this point.
I used to play bass guitar with a band, and received a phone call from the singer that they had a gig that night. I decided that would be a better place to spend the rest of my evening, so I gathered my roommate (who works for my account), and we started the trek from downtown san antonio to the st. marys strip (most of the music bars in this city are off this road, which is about as good as the local music scene here gets).
so I'm almost there, cutting through residential zones, going no more than 35mph, and come up to a light about a mile away from my destination, when I noticed the front-end of a cop car behind me. my roommate tells me to chill out, but I think nothing of it, since I wasn't speeding or anything.
well, a couple hundred feet later, his lights go up, so I pull over into a parking lot, shut down, and get my license and insurance ready.
the conversation went something like this:
cop - "sir, do you know how fast you were going?"
me - "not offhand, but I know I wasn't speeding"
cop - "well, it looked like you were going over those railroad tracks back there pretty quick"
me - "it might have looked like it, but I haven't broken the speed limit"
cop - "have you been drinking tonight?"
me - "a couple, but nothing substantial"
cop - "where are you coming from?"
me - "downtown"
cop - "where are you headed?"
me - "st. marys"
cop - "alright, be right back"
not exactly the best dialoge I've had with an officer.
so the cop takes my licesnse back to his squad car, runs it and all that shit, then comes back, hands it to me, and tells me to "be careful"
I wasn't the least bit worried because I could have passed a sobiety test. it just frustrates me that they singled me out, probably because I had a fast-looking car. its even more frustrating because I wasn't even speeding.
but on the plus side, my former band rocked out, and I ran into a girl I dated about a year and a half ago. we ended up making out in the back of the bar by the end of the night.
that is all
