I can never get over that kid ripping around on the big wheel..

I'm 30 years old, and yearn for the day I can rip around a huge ass hotel on a Big Wheel

Mindcore, have I got some big wheel stories for you!

I was born in the Philippines and the 5th floor of my grandfather's building had a giant livingroom / breakfast table area and a long hall covered with wooden tiles. We're talking probably 100 ft long from the end of the hallway to the far end of the giant room, and the hall was like the handle of a picket sign, the big room being the sign, and all tables and couches and stuff on one side.

Well, it would take 2-3 maids a couple hours to wax that floor, scrubbing with dried coconut halves. I remember seeing them barefoot with one foot in the coconut, just rubbing back and forth on the floor.

So anyway, I'm like 4-yrs old, and as far as I'm concerned (and how much my grandfather spoiled me), I own the world and I'd wait until they were done and sneak my big wheel down to the end of the hallway. I'd line myself up, then peel out and get up helluh speed down the 40ft hall and as soon as I got into the big room, I'd lock my feet on the pedals, whip the wheel off to one side and skid as far across the floor as I could, leaving three milky-white lines braiding across each other on the freshly waxed floor. Then I'd get up, inspect my work, and go back to do it again.

The maids could only gently ask me to not do it (I did it anyway), and when I grew tired of it, they'd go back and buff that floor again. And as far as my grandfather was concerned, so long as I was having fun, he was paying them to buff that floor, no matter how many times they had to do it.

I was a spoiled rotten sh*t as a lil kid, but damn those big wheel skidding sessions are some of my most favorite childhood memories.

Big wheels rock. I'm 30 too and I remember ripping around campus when my dad when to teach his class. I remember almost running over some girls in my spiderman big wheel with voice box. Pulling power slides with the little hand break would rock, but I also like filling the smaller wheels in the back water through those little holes so they would spray out when I would ride them. I saw my friend get hit with a car in his big wheel. I remember he was lucky because the car bumper hit the back seat, poor guy. I also remember taking a ride around the block with my big wheel without my parents know I did, boy did I get a whipping.

they have those new "razor" bigwheels... for about $80.00 or so, I think they are big enough for us to ride. Hard rubber front tire with plastic rears (for some oversteer).

I don't know that I have ever watched the Shining from start to finish......

Ripping around on the Big Wheel...
...and coming face to face with those dead twin girls.
Still shakes me up whenever I see it.
