Why cats are so amazing to people on the "internetz" puzzles me.. Oh, well...

Anyway, I doubt the end is near, but if it is, let's all repent for buying Japanese vehicles. We should've bought domestic products because only the United States is going to heaven.

The July 22, 2009 Total Solar Eclipse in China is the longest total solar eclipse in our lifetime, and the second longest in recorded history, next only to the June 20, 1955 eclipse in Manila.
Totality will last 5 min 8.6 sec in Shanghai and 5 min 27.8 sec in Wuhan. In 1955 totality was 6 min 1.0 sec in Manila and 7 min 6.3 sec in San Pablo, Laguna. The 2009 eclipse will not be surpassed in duration until June 13, 2132.

We missed this one. We've seen and shot total solar eclipses from Montana, Cabo San Lucas, Aruba, and Munich, as well as annular eclipses from Santa Catalina Island, CA and Puerto Vallarta. (An annular eclipse occurs when the moon is further from the earth relative to the sun and doesn't completely cover the sun, but leaves a thin ring, or "annulus.") Seeing an eclipse is unlike anything else I've ever experienced. It gets dark, you can see stars, the temp drops about 20 degrees, the shadow of the moon races by at 2,000 miles an hour, and nocturnal animals come out. We saw the Cabo eclipse from a Mexican farm. When it got dark, the cows came home. When it got light again, they just stood there, confused.
