Is solar energy the future?
yes solar power is the future - recent studies have shown its cheaper than nuclear which played heavily into Germany decision to move away from nuclear energy completely in the next decade.
There is some amazing tech there and currently under testing but I know for a fact big oil is sitting on alot of it right now. I think the future we are going far beyond panels and into dielectric surface coatings like paint and embedded windows and obviously solar roadways which right now could supply all the power we will ever need.
Also in the intermittent time offshore wind and power generating pressure panels placed in high traffic areas like train stations will also make a dent.
The future however of energy is energy from the vacuum commonly referred to a zero point energy generation. At some point in the next couple of decades I see a major shift from big business to consumer generated solutions.

What's up Blane. I actually just came back from Germany and the firs thing i noticed there is that EVERYONE had solar panels. I mean petrol is so expensive there that you pretty much have to install some sort of solar paneling. It's a no brainer Blane, wave of the future.
"Anyway, back to the topic, there's many forms of free or should I say cheaper and efficient ways to create electricity, but good luck getting the Government to approve them."
Like what?
I'd like to read up on them.
Thanks.

Solar energy may be free, but its technology is still very expensive. Moreover, it's not always a dependable source of energy because some places do not always get a lot of sun - Seattle to name one (there are even worse places in terms of sunniness).
