Some people just aren't careful
I went to the post office to get some stamps, i park my car perfectly centered, while i am still inside the car, this lady in a convertible mustang parks close to me and instead of correcting opens the door SLAM into my rear fender, then she gets outr and walks away as if nothing happened. I was so shocked i didn't say anything, i went to look and couldn't see any damage but my car is dirty right now so it is hard to see. (knock on wood) i am going to wash it tonight and then i can check closer.

Sev,
there are a ton of people like that. I think the only way to make them learn is to hit them in the pocketbooks. You should've said something to her and got her info, in case there is any damage.

I hate people like that. One time my wife was at the mail and when she came out some lady that had parked next to her put her purse on the roof of my wife's car. She said "Excuse me but can you take your purse off on my car." The woman said "Sure" and slide her purse off my wife's car. When she did this my wife heard a scratching sound. Of course the woman and metal studs on the bottom of her purse. I got the scratches out, but I still can not believe that the woman did that. As for door dings here is what I do to avoid them.
1. Park next to a pole or wall and get as close to that object as possible to give the person who is going park next to you plenty of room. This may require you to let your passenger out before you park the car.
2. Try to find an end spot and park as farway from the car next to you as possible
3. Never park next to a old coupe. Cars like El Dorados and Coupe de Villes have big, long, heavy doors that need to be opened pretty far to get out. Plus most of these cars are beaters and the owners do not car about their cars
4. Never park next to a Mini van or SUV. Most of the time, Mini vans in paticular, are full of young children that do not have a clue what a door ding is.
5. Park next to nice cars. People with nice cars will respect your car and do not want to damage their car either. A good spot would be between a S500 and a M5.
6. If none of these things can be done then when you park your car make sure that you give plenty room to the car that has their driver's door closet to you. When that car leaves you know someone is going to open the driver's door, but they might not open the passanger's door.
By doing this I have to park farther away then I could of or given up that space right in front of where I want to go, but I have been doing this for as long as I can remember, and have not had a ding in years.

Or better yet kuni, take your beater car to bad parking places.
I actually follow everything you say, but still get door dings. That's why I kept the other car around for places I know the parking is going to be bad. No dings on the S2K yet, and let's hope it stays that way.

It 's people like this why I choose to park far away from everyone. I don't mind walking the extra distance even in the winter. Although this winter I'll have a beater of some sorts!!

Some people just don't understand right and wrong. I guess she thought that running into other cars while parking is legal, and was just an answer she missed on the DMV Test.

Too bad some people just don't care, i washed the car and it seems that there is a pin sized spot so the damage is unnoticable and un-important...
Anyways, thank for the advice guys, but no matter what you do, it is just luck.
