Some people still have manners
it was quite a contrast for me being in Chicago and then going to Austin Texas for a weekend, I agree about the Hospitality the South is more friendly, but I also was immersed into the Nascar crowd, some of the friendliest people I have met.
I just had a visit from a good friend who has been living in scottsdale AZ, I figured AZ would be a really laid back place, like i hear so cal is...I was wrong, she told me that AZ was a lot worse then up here in the midwest.

F**k you.
Sorry, that's my NYC hospitality talking.
I absolutely agree, the south is MUCH nicer, friendlier, and more hospitable than the north...especially if those from the north are from a big city.

I've been living in Madison, Wisconsin for the past year. Since Friday night I've been in Lufkin, Texas. One of my friends from Madison moved down here, and I helped him out. There is quite a contrast between the north and the South. It really is true, the South is much more hospitable. The people are much friendlier, they smile at you and have manners. This has been my observation over the past 36 hours that I've been here.
I have a freind that lives in Mancos CO and he was amazed when he visited me here in Tampa of the amount of manners that I and others had when we visited Bush gardens. holding doors open for others, please and thank yous, general grace and niceness...totally foriegn to him and his surroundings.
He is a nice person and has manners but the area he lives in, he said, just is not that polite.

There is no such thing as manners in Phoenix, AZ unless the person is being paid. People here have an "f off" mentality.
