some "useful" x-mas present idea's?
I hate spending $$$ to find out a year later that the present has never been used..... the same happens to stuff people give me so I guess it all evens out that we all wasted a bunch of $ for no reason.
i'll take things people get for x-mas but never like for $1000.....Leaf blowers / fancy saws / sweaters / DVD's / Bathtub wirlpool insert thingy....... blaaaa.....
Anyone have any *good* idea's? Maybe I should buy my loser relatives all books on how to save money? It is hard to find something for my parents since they pretty much have anything they want..... Usually I get them a gift certificate for dinner somewhere nice... blaa

If any of your non-deadbeat relatives have a nice TV (or maybe the losers too??) then how about a DVD player with a surround sound set-up? You can get one that works for around $200 or less (it's not a Bose but it'll work).
Or maybe one of those big Foreman grills so they can eat healthier and lose weight

"its not a Bose" hahaha. Bose is horrible man. Astoundingly overpriced, and poor sound. 80% of their revenue goes towards marketing, 10% towards product development and manufacturing, 10% to the Devil.

I signed my dad up for a beer of the month club for his birthday once. I didn't realize how big of a hit it would be, but he LOVED it.
Wine clubs. beer-of-the-month clubs, panty-of-the-month clubs, mantie-of-the-month clubs. . . whatever. It lasts throught the year. Folks like that.
Also, don't forget to made-it-yourself gifts. For you Scot, use that digital camera and publishing software, go down to the county office, and do a photographic essay on people waiting for govt. assistance and the fine people that serve them.
Make it a calendar for everybody!!!
I just picked up one of these for my mom:

She's not very computer saavy and thus never really gets a chance to enjoy the pics we take with our digital cameras.
The picture quality on this thing is pretty impressive, and I can fit about 900 pics on the spare 32mb CF card that came with my camera if I resize them to 640x480.
A better pic I found online:
