Default Someone hacked into my paypal...

10/30/09 5:05pm: I receive a letter from collection agency representing paypal looking for $1200. Now I haven't used paypal in over 6 months and I've never bought or sold anything that expensive and even if I did I had it set up to withdraw from my bank account. I attempt to go into paypal but my account has been locked. Due to time constraints No further action could be taken that day.

11/2/09 4:30pm: After a few phone calls to the collection agency and to paypal, all the charges are resolved (which paypal was very nice to deal with). Now whoever hacked into my account changed the phone number, bank account numbers, credit card number, and address. The address is for a company down in Charlotte NC, the phone number is for an unlisted house in Chatham NJ, and the bank account/CC numbers I can not get the full numbers (which I may call back paypal and see if I can get them) so with that info I will make a police report tomorrow. My question is there anyway with the information paypal provides to really screw someone over. I was lucky enough that whoever did this didn't take any money from my account and only made one charge, which was cleared, but I won't feel satisfied until I know I've ruined this persons life.

Any help would be awesome.

You're crazy if you think the police will spend any time investigating this.

They will, it's a form of fraud/theft.

considering that the bank accounts and credit card may be stolen also I'm hoping they will.

Even if they don't there isn't much I can do, paypal won't give me the entire account numbers so I can't search them out. They've already taken the carge off my account so I'm not at any loss and I'm just going to close my paypal account once all this blows over.

...you might want to check your credit history... chances are, if it got sent to a collections agency, its going to show up on your credit... I would check all 3 bureaus if I were you.
