Sony Digital Camera, how do you record long clips?
Does anybody have this camera and know how to record long clips that can be moved onto the computer? I read the manual and it says it only records at 15 second intervals? Does anybody know how to get the video onto the computer? Thanks.

I was asking myself the same question awhile back ... I mean, I paid close to $1000 for mine and I can't record a 20 second video clip?! I guess it's time to get a digital camcorder.
Yea i did, and still those F**ker's won't let me record past 15 seconds. I got the DCR-PC110. That was a freakin grip of money, how does everybody else put there videos on the net then? Anybody?

These 15 second clips on the camera don't get the job done. At least the pictures are nice.
Sony digitals are typically limited to 15 seconds in high-quality (320x240) mpeg mode. In the lower quality mode (160x112) you can record for up to a minute, but the picture really sucks.
I have a 505V but have used the PC100 - the PC110's predecessor. It's a digital camcorder, with miniDV tape and firewire output. Just get a $40 firewire card and you're set, no?
Any decent video editing software will allow you to trim and edit what you record on the tape, and maybe lower the quality so it doesn't take 2 days for people to download. For high-quality clips longer than 15 seconds it's the way you'll have to go....

Yes, firewire can easily transfer the miniDV stuff onto the computer. My business partner bought a Sony VAIO laptop and it came with everything he needed to hook up his camcorder and transfer the tapes over and also encode them into different formats.
