Default spam and virii in your inbox...

how many do you get per day? per week?

some of you have temp mailboxes that you can use that isn't public, but being in a lot of people's mailboxes, its quite difficult to avoid it. Currently, I average about 50 spam emails a day, and approximately 25-30 virii a day.

Currently using Norton AV 2003, which is "alright", but I wish it had more advanced options, like not prompting me for jack when a virus comes in. For spam, I'm using IhateSpam for MSOutlook. (yes, still stuck with Outlook, tried others, just didn't cut it for what I need it to do) The anti-spam software works great, do a search for it out there, and buy a copy!

woa, i was about to start a thread about this issue-
apparently, i get about 200 a day.
and they are all about this NASTY korean porn sites, it really is making me
sick these days- i can't even filter them, my outlook exp. does support korean font
but somehow it doens't filter.
i'm in a lot of korean car/ bike forums and school, and i hear that people
gather e- mail add. from those sites.

it's really bothersome, i wish they become illegal.

You're doing the right thing for protecting yourself against a virus, just keep your definitions up to date. As for spam, it's best to complain to their ISP to have their account closed. Take a look at this web page for help in reporting spam: http://spamcop.net/

http://www.cauce.org/about/resources.shtml much better at legalities.

problem is - tracking down some of them. what I have done in the past against the sick porn emails is doing a whois at NSI and forwarding the mail to the admins of the site and ISP with a note stating 'do you think this is appropriate for my 5 year old daughter to view'? I dont have a daughter, but you get the point.

btw, last week, there was one guy who had an outlook virus and it was sending me virii constantly, within 36 hours, he sent me just under 600 virii - I don't think he knew about it, so I looked up his name on four11.com and gave him a ring - left a msg stating to get an antivirus app. ha! 600 is just overwhelming in that amount of time.
