That gives me shivers just looking at it Man, I hate spiders...

 

 

spiders are opportunistic hunters which means they will attempt to eat just about anything they manage to catch..

The pictures are decieving because although it is a large spider it is still fairly small and that bird is a very small bird from the finch family it looks like.

the web being very strong from that species was probably strong enough to entangle the bird and after it fatigued a bit, the spider invenomated the bird and it worked out for him/her.

There is actually a amazonian spider known as the Goliath Taurantula or Bird-Eating Spider that will do this quite often when it catches humming birds or other small birds.

 

eew...spiders freak me out.

 

is that for real? it looks fake.... We set something up like that in our front yard for trick or treat to scare the kids....
