Playing softball last Wednesday and was chasing an infield pop fly. Collided with the catcher who claims to have "called it". I think I made out better that he did. His upper jaw line shattered in my forehead and they were picking out bones from my eyelid and eyebrow. He will have to wait 3-4 months before they can even give him new teeth.
DAMN!! I guess on the bright side, you got the lesser of the damage in comparison. Hope you get better soon. Definitely be careful out there as this will be in the back of your mind for a while regardless.
How your scenario played out is one thing that I dread. I play center field in my leagues and I've collided a couple of times with other outfielders who are center fielders by default because naturally, it is always the CF's ball if it's within range. Well, guess what? Natural instinct takes over when the ball is in the air and two CF's on the field = trouble. The worst I've dished out is a dislocated ankle to one of my teammates which I still have no idea how that happened because the collision was up high in the shoulder/chest area. Co-ed leagues really scare me because I've run over a female rover once.
Hopefully you'll be able to make it out to one of the local softball meets soon.
Hope it heals quickly. Softball has a lot more action than people think. I was the go ahead run in a game and rounding third, saw the ball heading towards the catcher so I slid and dislocated my shoulder. 6-8 months later, my shoulder is still hurting at odd angles.
Two friends of mine had a similar collision while practicing punt receptions before a football game. They collided at full speed (and weren't wearing helmets at the time). One guy gashed his eye right along the eyebrow (similar to yours), the other guy split his upper lip in two, straight down from below his nose.
Ouch.
