I'm in class right now, and whenever I stay the length of the lab, I swear my IQ goes down. I could have understood this stuff when I was in middle school...stupid graduation requirements...

Jay, that is what you get for taking that course in UM. I took it myself. and, I still wondering why do I wake up early and go to class to sleep. Later on, I reallize I can just sleep at home and skip that boring class.

You are double right. Statistics is a course of study, singular, and most boring. However, I think you'll find it useful, no matter what you do in life (other than maybe milking yaks, racing zambonis, retipping shoelaces, or installing Botts Dots on highways). I know I have. Stick with it, my man.

 

but... its not a statistic unless you have more than one. because if you have lets say, ONE broken transmission out of a one off car, then it really isn't a statistic is it? but if you have one broken transmission out of thousands of s2000's, then you have a statistic, right? thus, it would be plural. =D

 

agreed, i haven't been to that class in well over a week...my teacher makes it all the more boring.

 

Statistics in a set about a given topic ARE plural. Statistics taught as a course IS singular. When was the last time you heard anyone say mathematics ARE useful? This is ridiculous -- why am I even addressing this. Goodbye thread.
