Stay in school or get a real job?
i have a big decision i need to make. i currently am in my 2nd year working on my cs degree. i recently got a job offer that starts at least $60k a year. the only reason i got this job offer is because of my own work study i have done in the past, and doesnt require the degree.
my question is, in the future will i be sorry that i didnt finish by cs degree and should i just go after the money right now?
anyone here living good lives without a college degree? i need all opinions/suggestions.
thanks

I'd say go for the degree. You can never have too much education, and having a degree makes all the difference. I know of a few adults who never finished theirs, and making a viable long term career is very difficult without the qualification of the degree, regardless of your ability. So, I say stay in school; won't you regret not becoming a college grad when you're 50 or 60 and you knew you had a chance? other jobs will come, and numbers don't lie when it comes to the fact that college grads consistently land jobs with higher pay.

I think it depends more on how you feel about the work. I've always thought that having a job you love is much more important than the money. If your not sure what type of work you really want to pursue at this point then stay in school - improving your education is probably the wiser choice but if this type of work really facinates you then go for it and finish school on the side.

Hmm... tough choice. IT/CS is unique in that there are good jobs available without a degree. IT people tend to judge you by what you know, not how many initials you have after your name. That is a good thing. I'm assuming that you are 20-ish, and that you have about 40 years of working life ahead of you. The question I have is -- will your profession pay you well without a degree 35 years from now? Or will you be at a dead end for lack of a degree. IT/CS will likely become more of a mainstream engineering field in the future, where degrees and paper qualifications are essential, rather than the anything-goes free-for-all that it is today. What will you do in 2035 when 80% of your peers have degrees and you don't?
I'd say the 2yrs in college would be worth it both financially and socially. (More chance to meet member of opposite sex in college that at work).
